Keep module boundaries while adding the whole set
A YouTube video duration sum becomes easier to review when a long course or research queue is divided into meaningful groups. This tool accepts separate manual duration lists for modules, weeks, topics, or any user-defined sections. It validates each group independently, shows its subtotal, and then adds the subtotals into one grand sum.
The core calculator is better for one undivided list. This page is intentionally different: group identity and subtotal comparison are part of the result. It still does not accept a playlist URL, retrieve content, or infer modules from titles.
Every group remains editable after calculation, so a reviewer can correct one module without rebuilding the other duration ledgers.
Build one group at a time
Create a group, optionally name it, and paste one duration per line. The accepted shapes remain SS, MM:SS, and HH:MM:SS. Add another group only when the boundary matters to the plan. Names such as “Module 1” can help a copied summary, but leaving them blank reduces descriptive data on a shared screen.
For example, Group A contains 18:20, 24:10, and 16:30, totaling 59:00. Group B contains 35:00, 27:45, and 22:15, totaling 1:25:00. Group C contains 14:30, 12:40, 19:20, and 8:30, totaling 55:00. The grand sum is 3:19:00 across ten valid videos.
Group B is the largest subtotal and represents 42.71% of the 11,940-second grand sum. That comparison can reveal an uneven course module without claiming that equal duration is educationally better.
Validation stays inside its group
An invalid line belongs to the group where it appears. If Group C contains 12:80, its subtotal excludes that row and displays an incomplete warning. Other groups can still show reviewed subtotals. The grand sum must also remain labeled incomplete until the line is corrected or deliberately removed.
Moving a duration between groups changes subtotals but not the grand sum when the same valid value remains included once. Copying a line into two groups counts it twice because duration alone cannot identify a duplicate video. The tool does not deduplicate equal values; two different videos can have the same displayed time.
Empty groups are not silently counted. Before calculation, remove a draft group or add at least one valid line. This keeps the group count meaningful and prevents a blank label from appearing as a zero-length module.
Compare load without judging content
Subtotal share is arithmetic: group seconds divided by grand-total seconds. It can help allocate study days or identify which module deserves a larger block. It cannot measure difficulty, importance, quality, prerequisites, or the time needed for notes and exercises.
Suppose Group B has 1:25 of video but also requires two hours of practice, while Group A has 0:59 of video and no assignment. Video share alone understates the workload difference. Add non-media activities before using the study scheduler when the daily cap governs total learning time.
Use groups as a snapshot
A module list can change. Videos may be reordered, added, removed, edited, or made unavailable. The site does not watch a course or maintain synchronization. Date the copied group summary and repeat the manual review when the source changes.
If only the grand sum matters later, copy it into the speed or study tool. If the schedule should preserve group order, keep the subtotal summary in the user’s own notes. The launch application does not create a course file or remember a group arrangement.
Data-minimizing grouping
The arithmetic needs durations and boundaries, not video titles or a course URL. Group names are optional and remain in ephemeral browser memory. Nothing is uploaded, stored in a database, sent to an analytics vendor, or connected to an account. Reset removes the groups and results.
The copied summary includes group names only when the user supplied them. On a shared device, use neutral labels or leave them blank. Clipboard history and destination documents are outside the site’s control.
